Stephen Greene, DDS, PhD
Dr. Stephen Greene is a proud graduate of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, Florida (Go Rattlers!). Following undergrad, he matriculated to Washington, D.C. to attend Howard University College of Dentistry and graduated in 2012 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.
During dental school, Dr. Greene was selected as the Inaugural Government Affairs Fellow with the American Association of Dental Research. It was here that he gained a passion for advocating for healthcare improvements, prevention of oral and systemic diseases, elimination of pediatric health disparities and providing access to pediatric dental care.
In the pursuit of becoming an advocate for oral health, he spent three summers as a research extern at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. In his final year in dental school, he was selected to work at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA, exploring genetic factors associated with pediatric craniofacial disorders.
Following graduation, Dr. Greene was confident that he wanted to continue his education and learn more about oral health disparities, craniofacial development, dental genetic disorders and pediatric dentistry. His passion and his love for the South made it an easy decision to accept the opportunity to join the University of Alabama at Birmingham Pediatric Dentistry specialty program. He earned his PhD in 2017 in Biomedical Sciences at UAB and will complete his pediatric dentistry specialty in June 2018. He will be joining the Singing River Dentistry team at our children’s location, SRD on 5th, in July 2018.
Prior to entering the pediatric dentistry program, Dr. Greene practiced general dentistry in Birmingham, AL, and served as Adjunct Instructor at UAB School of Dentistry. He is a member of the ADA, AAPD, NDA and IADR/AADR. His goal is to provide quality and compassionate care in a relaxed environment for infants, children, and adults with special healthcare needs.
Dr. Greene is the youngest of four siblings. He was born in Los Angeles, California, although he grew up in between Miami and Tallahassee, Florida. He and his wife, Tasha, have four children: Stephen Jr, Sydney, Samantha and Savannah. In his spare time, he enjoys watching movies, exercising at the gym and spending time with family.
